Anonyomous Securing of Evidence

Victims of, e.g. domestic or sexual violence who, for various reasons, do not want to report the perpetrator or pursue criminal proceedings, can have evidence of this violence secured anonymously in a timely manner. This is of importance in proceedings with conflicting statements by two parties as these are often adjourned. Having evidence such as photographs or a court-proof    medical documentation of the injuries can prevent this. Thus, anonymous securing of evidence offers the victims ample time to think about whether or not they want to pursue criminal proceedings.   Please note that the anonymous securing of evidence does not guarantee a succesful criminal proceeding, it is simply a way of securing court-proof    medical documentation.

Anonymous securing of evidence is possible in certain clinics and hospitals and so-called outpatient clinics for the protection against violence. Please note however, that the nationwide coverage of said clinics is limited and that coverage varies from state to state.

As of the 01.03.2020 the anonymous securing of evidence is covered by social health insurance .

The Project iGOBSIS-pro, which is funded by the European Union and the   North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Health, enables a standardized and extensive treatment of victims of violent crime in  North Rhine-Westphalia. Participating Clinics as well as  gerneral practicioners  can use thie iGOBSIS system as    a step-by-step guide on examination, withdrawal of evidence  and  court-proof documentation. The following collection and storage of evidence is done by the  Institut für Rechtsmedizin  of the  Düsseldorf University Hospital, which is currently developing an interdisciplinary Centre for Vicitims of Violent Crime.
